| 2011 Donation Quilt: |
The money we raise from raffle tickets, which are sold before and during our biennial quilt show, provides us with the funds to create community service grants. Grants are then awarded to guild members for quilting or sewing related projects that will benefit women and/or children in Central Florida. Past grants awarded include: Fundraising quilts made to benefit Juvenile Diabetes research and Habitat for Humanity; quilts made for children in shelters, premature babies in area hospitals, juvenile cancer patients, and assisted living and nursing home residents. Hats and quilts made for cancer survivors and quilts made to cover hospital isolette units. Grant applications and guidelines are available at each meeting, on the guild’s website, or by calling the Grant Committee Chair listed in the guild roster. |
